2nd Class: How Trauma Impacts Your Cardiovascular Health
A Class by Karen Robinson (MSW, ACSW, LCSW, CCTP-II)
About Class
🕒 1 hour – Heart-Centered Session
In this class, we turn our attention to the heart—not just as an organ, but as a vital part of how we feel, connect, and survive.
Trauma doesn’t only live in the mind. It lives in the body. Many people who have experienced trauma notice a racing heart, shallow breathing, chest tension, or even a sense of emotional tightness that seems to live behind the ribs. This session is about understanding why that happens and how to begin releasing it.
We’ll explore:
đź«€ How trauma and long-term stress can affect heart rate, blood pressure, and circulation
🫀 Why trauma survivors often feel “guarded” or emotionally distant
🫀 What it really means to protect your heart—and how to safely start opening back up
đź«€ Gentle practices that support the cardiovascular system and emotional regulation
This isn’t about pushing through discomfort. It’s about noticing your body’s signals and responding with compassion. Through calming movement, breathing, and grounded presence, we’ll begin reconnecting to the heart in a way that feels safe.
If you’ve felt disconnected, hardened, or like your heart’s been “on hold,” this is a space to begin softening and coming back home to yourself—one steady beat at a time.
đź’› Join us and give yourself permission to prioritize your healing.
This hour is for you—to breathe, to listen, and to come back to your heart.
